Day 1.- EUROPE – CHICAGO
Departure from your hometown, in a scheduled flight, destination Chicago. Arrival and transfer to the hotel in the centre of Chicago and pick-up the rented car the 3rd day.
Day 2 – 3 .- CHICAGO
Chicago is a great city with its towering skyscrapers and its Loop, the city centre has the name of the station on high. Visit the Grant Park – the green area between the Loop and Lake Michigan – with the Buckingham Fountain and the Millenium Park where the sculpture “The Bean” stands, which reflects the profile of the city, Michigan Avenue, the elegant Avenue that constitutes the central avenue of the city. Free afternoon to relax and to explore the city. Accommodation at the hotel.
Day 4 .- CHICAGO – ST LOUIS
Pick-up of the rented car (office next to the hotel). Departure destination Springfield, Illinois, passing through the “mother of all American streets”, the legendary Route 66, which connects Chicago to Santa Monica beach in California. In Springfield is located the Lincoln Home that hosted to Abraham and Mary Lincoln from 1844 until 1861, date of his transfer to the White House.
After visiting Springfield go ahead to St. Louis. Accommodation at chosen hotel.
Day 5 .-ST. LOUIS – NASHVILLE (495 Km)
Before leaving don’t forget to make a photo of The Gateway Arch, the monument symbolizing the West expansion of the United States. It cross the State of Tennessee until Nashville. Called the “Music City”, Nashville is the capital of country music. Go visiting Grand Ole Opry, base of the world oldest radio program that make came into fashion country music. Have a quick look at Ryman Auditorium program, scene of the most known stars of this music gender. Accommodation at the chosen hotel.
Day 6 .-NASHVILLE
Visit the museum of the music stars; go for a walk around Wall of Music Fame and around the historical RCA Study, where stars as Chet Atkins, Dolly Parton, Everly Brothers, Elvis and many others recorded their hits. During the night, go dancing in the typical country bars is a good choice.
Day 7 .-NASHVILLE -MEMPHIS (340 Km)
Continue to the South destination Memphis. Discover the birthplace of Blues, the Beale Street, the main street filled of clubs to enjoy another night with live music. Accommodation.
Day 8-9 .-MEMPHIS
Start the day with a visit to Graceland, Elvis’ famous mansion. In the afternoon, you can visit Sun Studio, where Elvis, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee and Johnny Cash recorded their first hits. You can continue with music history at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
Day 10 .MEMPHIS – VICKSBURG (360 Km)
Today the route travels around the Mississippi Delta. Make a stop at Clarksdale at the Delta Blues Museum that displays a collection of B.B. King and Muddy Waters’ objects. Continue on to Vicksburg MS, as known as “the South Key”. You will discover the strategic importance of Vicksburg during World War II visiting the National Army Park. Day 11 . VICKSBURG – NEW ORLEANS (333 Km).
Today you will enter to the State of Louisiana. Along Mississippi River, you must make a stop at historic plants growing as Nottoway or Oak Alley. Then continue on to New Orleans, the birthplace of Jazz. Don’t miss live concerts in Preservation Hall on in some Jazz Club of Burbon Street. Accommodation.
Car must be left at downtown office the arrival day and you must take a taxi (less than 1 mile to the hotel).
Day 12 -13 . NEW ORLEANS
Start in the morning with French brioches and “café au lait” at the famous Café du Monde. Enjoy a walk around the French Quarter and discover the typical French market in Canal Street. In the afternoon or evening take a cruise or go shopping to Magazine Street. The tour to New Orleans is not perfect if you don’t try the local food, or cajún.
Day 14 . NEW ORLEANS – EUROPE.
Free time for the last walk or for shopping souvenirs before taking the home flight (night on board).
Day 15.- EUROPE
End of the Trip.
